... Not because this is some sort of mystical place - but simply because I cannot remember the name! This is a common problem of mine. When travelling, I see a lot and move a lot. But if I do not write down the names of the places I have visited, they slip my mind. As a result, I end up with a great sunset and memory, but without having the name of the actual place. I am sure there are some brain training techniques...
The Karnak Temple in Egypt is, for lack of a better word, humongous. This picture was shot with a 10 mm lens, meaning it's really wide - but even then I did not manage to get the full pillars here into the frame. But damn, just look at those carvings. Some of the wall paintings you can find in Egyptian temples date back thousands of years and the colors are still as vibrant as the day they were painted on - it's stunning. The day I took this image was hot - like 38 degrees C hot. The sun was burning so hard that we literally moved from one shadow to another, pillar by pillar, stone by stone. The sweat was worth the experience though! Phill
I mentioned before that I strongly recommend to have a walk across Manhatten bridge, even though it is painfully loud due to passing trains. If you do decide to take this path, you will be rewarded with awesome scenes such as this! When I edited this picture, I played with many different interpretations - some more and some less colourful - but once I saw how some of the buildings are pure black and others are near-white, this version felt absolutely right. -Phillip
